This sort of software tends to be priced according the the number of computers and the library size along with a lot of al-la-cart features. I think you are just going to have to call a few of the companies on Apples list and get some quotes and demo versions.

Sorry no current recommendations for Macs. If they added the extra features a small library needs to DL I would buy a few iMacs and switch in a minute (if I could get the current records to transfer). When we first got this system it was competing against Apple II-based systems in most school libraries. I think we paid something like $1500 plus $300 a year for support for a program that runs on two computers and doesn't have any auto-cataloging features (they are available for extra cost) but it does have all the other stuff and volunteers enter the information so spending the extra money for the cataloging module doesn't real save us anything except time. I think the core of DL could probably handle a small library (school/church) it just needs some additional modules, such as for book processing and labeling, auto cataloging, that sort of thing.

So can anyone give SW recommendations for the Mac side? Anyone tried Athenaeum or some other app?

Which is a pity - DL looks like a fun app (Will, are you listening? I want a DL Pro version - View image here: - ). So if I'm understanding correctly DL is great for the hobbyist and enthusiast, but doesn't begin to approach the scalability / feature set of commercial library software. Thanks to everyone for the replies - this is good info.
